Was it worth it?
Have I made my first million?
Nope, not yet.
Do I have the biggest grin on my face?
I returned to work after maternity in 2001 when our son, Jack was 6 months old. 6 months later, after the darkest point in my life, I escaped coporate employment with absolutely no plan whatsoever. Through the power of good friends and vino, Domestic Angels was open for business.
Business has been 20 years of ‘learning curve’. Tears, sleeplessness nights, huge wins, fascination, privilege and much joy. If you have ever started your own business from scratch and persistently evolved it, you know what I’m talking about.
Was it worth it?
Totally. I did it because self-employment and leading my own business allowed me to be the best Mum I could be year after year whilst growing my own resilient skill set. School runs, sports events, hot chocolate and hugs on tap, I have been able to do it all without Mum guilt or restriction.
How do I know?
Jack graduated from uni last year and is now living his dream racing and working on performance yachts. Yes, this is a thing, it is an incredible lifestyle, a profession. Picture above was taken February 2023 at the beginning of the Caribbean 600 (Jack is in black, stood up).
I look back over his now 22 years and I can see how all of the dots join up to get to today, to his dream life. Some of the biggest dots could only exist because I had such freedom as a business owner, as a parent.
For those of you out there who are parents looking to return to work, if you have a choice which gives you freedom, do it, it’s worth it.
For those of you out there who are feeling trapped, you don’t have to be. Liberate yourself.
We’re looking for people who want to have fun, work hard and play hard.
Intrigued? Call 0333 577 2650 today and tell me why you want to open your own Domestic Angels business.
