The Lessons Between the Milestones: 24 Years of Domestic Angels

When people talk about growing a business, there is a default, almost an obsession, to focus on defined highlights such as growth, awards and expansion. The things you can point at and say, “Look what we did.”

After 24 years of Domestic Angels, it’s clear to our founder, Sam Acton, that those aren’t necessarily the bits that have taught her the most. It’s everything that happens in between.

Sam has been reflecting on some of those experiences in an article written for the British Franchise Association magazine, The Lessons Between the Milestones , find us on page 42.

What happens between the milestones?

There have certainly been milestones during the Domestic Angels story, but getting from one to the next has involved plenty of learning along the way:

👥 People have taught us things.

⚙️ Systems have worked until the business grew and they didn’t.

💻 Technology has changed what is possible.

There have been things that haven’t gone quite to plan and times when what we’ve always done has needed to be changed or completely rethought. Through all of that, one thing has remained particularly important: people come first.

Systems, processes and technology matter, but Domestic Angels is a business built around people and relationships.

Why share the lessons as well as the successes?
