Remembering ‘why’ you are in business helps us to remain intentional in all that we do.
This summer our son raced at Cowes Week 2023 and his team, pictured below, won their class. If you are not fully up to date on competitive sailing, this is a BIG deal.
I left the corporate hamster wheel in spring 2002 with no plan other than the need for freedom. Freedom to work as and when I wanted, freedom to earn what I wanted but most importantly, freedom to be the Mum I wanted to be.
Based from home for 22 years now, running a sizeable business that has a huge focus on enabling other mums to have the same freedom, my decision has been totally vindicated.
Look what our man child is able to achieve?!?! Incredible. He literally does what he loves for a living. Get that! And wins!
This is totally down to ‘being there’, hot chocolates on tap, going to all the sports days, matches, shows, having time to listen. You know the stuff.
Parenting is mentoring with added love.
I love working from home, or my boat, wherever I fancy, it’s not for everyone but I could not have fulfilled my very basic ‘why’ to be the best Mum I could be by trotting off to an office.
When you find yourself questioning whether you should be working from home, from an office or wherever, check with yourself, will this fulfil my most basic ‘why’, not the money ‘why’, the one ‘why’ that becomes your legacy. The one that can so very easily get forgotten.
And for those of you holding heart, soul and sanity together these school summer holidays………………it is worth it, I promise you.
